Garcia sang "Paris (Ooh La La)" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals for her audition in Providence, Rhode Island. She received 4 yeses. During bootcamp, Garcia's performance was described by L.A. Reid as being "spicy". Garcia sang Sweeter by Gavin DeGraw. She performed I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry for her mentor Demi Lovato and guest mentor Nick Jonas. Lovato selected Garcia to compete in the live shows. She performed "Home Sweet Home" during the first live show on October 31, 2012. Although she got tons of praise from mentor Lovato, Jennel was eliminated from the competition after a sing-off against fellow Young Adult contender, Paige Thomas on November 15, 2012. Britney Spears, L.A. Reid, and Simon Cowell all voted to send her home, while Lovato voted to keep her. She finished in eleventh place.
